China Doll

8x8

Acrylic and medium on board

This painting expresses fragility, vulnerability, and easily fractured.

“A pistol shot at five o'clock/The bells of heaven ring/Tell me what you done it for/'No I won't tell you a thing'”

Opening lyrics from the Grateful Dead song, 'China Doll', speak directly of the act of suicide but later seems to offer hope, as if there's still a chance to pull the spirit back from the brink of death or despair.

"Pick up your china doll/It's only fractured/just a little nervous from the fall”.

Always remember about hope, your favorite song, and the gentle breeze against your skin. The simple things in life to keep living for.

Get to know the artist

Michelle Spiziri's art reflects Abstract Expressionism. However, she has an uncanny ability to evoke unique, evocative imagery while revealing unexpected visual stories.

She is also exploring ceramic sculpture as a medium of extended expression.

Much like life, and while digging deeper within ourselves, inside the nucleus of Michelle’s art there exist layers of complexities, discoveries, and synchronicities forming before the reveal of a finished work.

Michelle believes that the sometimes chaotic journey involves a chrysalis state of deconstruction in order to create something fresh and meaningful.
